BUSINESS UNIT DESCRIPTION
Corporate Security Enterprise Protection, Governance and Incident Management (EPGIM) oversees and manages the close coordination of all security, business continuity and safety related activities within our Bank to reduce CIBC's exposure to fraud and security related risks and ensure that under conditions of significant business interruption or crisis that CIBC can continue to operate and be restored safely, effectively and efficiently.

Corporate Security is a dynamic, multi-skilled group whose mission is to continuously develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive protection programs and investigative services for the CIBC Group of Companies to safeguard its people, assets and information.

JOB PURPOSE
This position will support the overall mandate of the Corporate Security group by providing subject matter expertise and support within the Protection Programs group.
The incumbent will be responsible, as part of a team of security professionals, for the execution of several programs to ensure that people, information and property are adequately protected across CIBC.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Participate in the development and maintenance of specific security programs, including a risk-based approach to the global physical security of CIBC’s assets. Support will include:
1. Providing advice and support on projects and initiatives with minimal supervision
2. Identifying security risks and controls
3. Interfacing with outside vendors and stakeholders as needed to obtain information, review plans, and create detailed reports
4. Creating plans and ensuring tasks are completed in a timely manner
5. Providing status updates to management and other relevant stakeholders as needed
• Ensure Protection Programs processes and standards are reviewed periodically and reflect practical, effective security approaches to mitigate identified risks. Periodically perform domestic and international industry benchmarking to identify current industry norms and best practices as they relate to identified security approaches.
• Perform Threat Risk Assessments (TRAs) of various facilities using an all-risks approach, including ad-hoc TRAs as required. Pro-actively identify and prioritize physical security gaps. Write and submit reports detailing appropriate recommendations for remediation and ensure remediation efforts are completed in a timely manner. TRAs may relate to CIBC offices, branches or centres, executive residences, supplier locations or those locations assumed by CIBC during an acquisition.
• Provide consultations and guidance to management and relevant stakeholders related to security concerns
• Regular liaison between various internal partners, to review and asses risk and provide recommendations to mitigate risk to CIBC
• Conduct analysis of global security related events incidents, provide detailed reporting to assist in providing proactive response in to mitigate against possible risk to CIBC
• Research and analyze industry information to assist in benchmarking and trending to support new initiatives and revisions of existing programs and procedures

CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
This role collaborates with peers both inside and outside of Corporate Security for both resolving problems and managing data.
• Regular contact with Corporate Security staff at all levels
• Regular contact with other internal stakeholders for the purpose of obtaining or exchanging information
• Regular contact with external vendors for the purpose of obtaining or exchanging information, or performing Threat Risk Assessments (TRAs)
• Regular contact with various external parties for the purposes of conducting industry benchmarking or in support of performing risk assessments

COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS/RESPONSIBILITIES
• As an employee of CIBC, the incumbent must comply with all applicable CIBC and Line of Business policies, standards, guidelines and controls.

AUTHORITIES/DECISION RIGHTS
• The Consultant is expected to contribute by mitigating risk to CIBC and supporting the enhancement of operational efficiency and effectiveness within their areas of responsibility.

JOB DIMENSIONS
• The role of the Consultant has enterprise-wide responsibility to support the overall mandate of the Protection Programs group across CIBC’s Branch and Office environments.
• Assignments are carried out with considerable independence and the incumbent is expected to take initiative in seeking out information.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• Knowledge of security management principles, practices, policies and procedures in a large, multi-business environment.
• Possession of a professional designation in the field of security, and/or post-secondary education, and/or demonstrated 2-5 years equivalent experience is required.
• Strong team and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to communicate effectively (both written and oral) to enable the precise articulation of ideas and concepts. Effective listening skills.
• Well-developed organizational and time management skills in order to respond to shifting priorities on several simultaneous assignments.
• Demonstrated job commitment including a willingness to work extended hours and personal flexibility and adaptability in order to meet client requirements. Ability to work in a detail, and deadline-oriented environment.
• Ability to work well in a team environment and operate effectively in a matrix environment.
• Excellent working knowledge of PC applications (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite) is required.
• Solid understanding of security policies and standards.
• Ability to effectively apply physical security standards to various situations based on risk.
• Ability to understand and analyze business processes and problems of medium complexity, draw actionable conclusions, and make sound recommendations.
• Ability to multi-task and handle competing priorities.
• Demonstrated relationship management skills.
• Demonstrated interpersonal, facilitation, and negotiation skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS
• The position is based in Toronto; however it requires local, out of province and out of country travel, at times on short notice.
• Availability to respond to incidents 24/7 is essential.
