Reporting to the Chief of Security (CSO), Corporate Real Estate this position will help to continually bring the global security strategy to reality as directed by the CSO. You will assist the CSO by providing support to the Regional Managing Director’s, Corporate Real Estate, their facility managers and premise heads of security. You will administer the reporting and tracking of the program for the CSO, assist Premise Directors, Managers and heads of security on projects and day to day security operations, communicating the CSO’s direction. This role also provides subject matter expertise to Manulife/John Hancock Real Estate premises worldwide.

Manulife Corporate Real Estate manages the space requirements and corporate use facilities for Manulife’s operations around the world for both owned and company leased premises globally. Manulife Real Estates Security Program provides strategic, consultative advice to Real Estate leaders for their premise security programs; and reports key metrics to Real Estate leadership.

The global physical security program provides a comprehensive set of systems and measures that effectively prevent, eliminate, or mitigate threats to premises, reducing business disruption/risk and enabling Manulife to achieve its business goals.

Responsibilities

Administer the premise facility threat risk assessments schedule on behalf of the CSO, keeping facilities management aware of key dates and requirements.
Track recommendations and ensure they are captured centrally, reported to management in a timely and appropriate manner, and tracked until resolution.
Monitor, respond to and report global incidents (terrorism, major crime, disasters, civil/political unrest) which may have a direct impact to premises.
Support global employee and executive protection efforts as directed by the CSO.
On behalf of the CSO administer security vendor key performance indicators, service level agreements and contract administration for all premises.
Review site layout of office space, security system and hardware design for newly planned, constructed or renovated facilities and provide recommendations to premise management.
Support premise heads of security and with HR lead employee terminations, harassment or other employee situations where a risk of workplace violence may exist.
Administer the governance of security policies, standards, procedures and working documents to ensure consistency and compliance as outlined by the CSO.
Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience inside a corporate or government security department within an organization of comparable size and complexity to Manulife.
Knowledge of Physical Security and Life Safety legislation, principles, protocols, practices and industry standards.
ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP), ASIS Physical Security Professional (PSP) will be highly regarded.
Training and or education in security management, risk management or business administration, or comparable professional training in a field relevant to security management.
Working knowledge of fire and building codes per company standards and various local requirements where Manulife operates.
Understanding of physical security systems (e.g. access control, CCTV, security lighting, perimeter/interior intrusion detection, security lighting, visitor management, case management and system integration etc.).
Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, organization, leadership and planning skills.
Ability to coordinate with key partners during a crisis and emergency incidents.
Demonstrated sensitivity to issues of ethics, diversity, equity and harassment in the workplace.
Must be able to work with businesses on a business perspective and interpret security context in a way understandable to business and non-technical people.
Proficient in Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint.
Be available to work outside or normal operating hours and on call 24/7.
Can travel locally and or internationally up to 25% of the time.
