TRAINING ANNOUNCEMENT – CLOSE PROTECTION OFFICER – JULY 16 to 20

York University, Keele Campus – Williams Small Centre

The Close Protection Officer Course will support those individuals unarmed tasked with protecting individuals from harm and threats including the safe evacuation of the VIP/Dignitary.  Topics will include: Deontology, Mission Preparation, General information about escort, Tactics and choice of escort, the box, the principle of ambushes, Ballistic protection/Ballistics/Terrorist risk, Building controls, Trapped letters,  Control of the persons, Moving around VIP with multiple protection officers, Extraction and protection of the VIP, Defense against: grappling, fists, kicks, edged weapons, sticks, and other.  The course will be 20 % theory / 80 % practical.  For this reason, class size is restricted to 20 people.

Certification is through Toronto Tactical Training with lead instructor and internationally recognized expert Jean-Paul JAUFFRET.  Jean-Paul has been involved in specialized training to security personnel, police, military and counter-terrorism groups throughout the world including: Canada, Argentina, France, Belgium, Italy, Poland, Germany, Greece, Czech Republic, Portugal and more.   Continual clients include French Foreign Legion including 2nd Régiment Étranger Parachutiste (REP), Gendarmerie Nationale and numerous SWAT/Counter-terrorist units.  Supportive instruction through S.A.S. trained instructor.

Jean-Paul has extensive experience in close protection and self-defence.  Former Chief of Police for Corsica, France with additional experience with being tasked with duties associated with guarding French Prime Minister, Military officer’s and foreign dignitaries.  York University is privileged to host this real world subject matter expert.
