TORONTO CHAPTER EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

This committee consists of four elected volunteer members serving for a two-year term from January 1st to December 31st each year. The Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer are responsible for planning all chapter events and coordinating the activities of the other sub-committees. All sub-committee volunteers are appointed annually by the Chapter Chairperson.

BEST PRACTICES COMMITTEE

This committee is responsible for organizing the chapter's largest educational event of the year, the Best Practices Seminar, in April-May of each year. It is an all-day event with multiple speakers and is expected to draw more than 150 attendees. There is an exhibit area for chapter sponsors, with tabletop or free-standing booths available.

CERTIFICATION COMMITTEE

This committee is responsible for organizing the chapter's annual certification study groups for the Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP) and Professional Certified Investigator (PCI) designations. The study groups run each fall using volunteer moderators and speakers and are expected to draw in excess of 50 attendees overall.

COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE

This committee is responsible for drafting a weekly e-mail blast to the membership, summarizing all events and activities within the chapter and with affiliated organizations. The communications committee coordinates LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram posts to promote upcoming events, share industry news, and post real-time updates - with pictures - from chapter events.

DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION COMMITTEE

This committee focuses on fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment where the diverse members of the ASIS Toronto community are encouraged to share experiences, skills, and knowledge openly.  This vision will be realized through a strong focus on education, advocacy, and holding our community accountable.

EDUCATION COMMITTEE

This committee is responsible for coordinating the chapter's outreach to colleges offering programs related to the security industry and coordinating a mentorship program and chapter student scholarships. The education committee is also responsible for organizing the annual Colleges Night event each year in February.

GOLF COMMITTEE

This committee is responsible for organizing the largest single chapter event, the golf tournament, occurring in August. This includes coordinating with chapter sponsors to ensure they are adequately represented and arranging for raffle prizes.

LAW ENFORCEMENT COMMITTEE

This committee is the chapter’s primary point of contact for law enforcement officials. Promotes private and public partnerships and information sharing with local law enforcement entities.  Assist the chapter program and events chair with planning any law enforcement appreciation/recognition programs and events and promote ASIS International to law enforcement professionals.

NEXTGEN COMMITTEE

This committee is responsible for educating and developing young careerists by providing a forum to engage and learn from security thought leaders, get involved with ASIS programs and activities, and connect with peers from across the globe. The NextGen committee will host three social networking events throughout the year and one educational event.

WOMEN IN SECURITY COMMITTEE

This committee is responsible for organizing events that provide support and assistance to women in the security field and inspire those interested in entering the profession. It is an initiative supported by the ASIS International Women in Security Council. The WIS committee will host one social networking event in June and the Half-Day Security Summit in November.
